Summer Music Camp - July 10-21, 2017
Our 10-day camps are designed to challenge young string, brass, wind and percussion musicians - from beginner to advanced players. Our camps are led by some of Ottawa's finest professional musicians and teachers. Daily ensemble playing, group lessons, theory and ear training lead up to a concert on the final day. Sports, crafts and recreation activities balance the musical studies to create a fun and fulfilling camp experience.

John Gomez, 2016 recipient of the Betty Webster Award
OYOA and its board is proud to share the news of John’s recent award and congratulate him on receiving this much deserved recognition:
Today (June 22, 2016), Orchestra Canada announced that John was the unanimous choice for this year’s national Betty Webster award for his sustained and significant contribution to the Canadian orchestral community, with an emphasis on leadership, education and volunteerism.
Outstanding among his peers, John will receive a plaque commemorating his contribution along with a donation to an orchestra of his choosing.
John has generously chosen the OYOA as the recipient of the donation, to support the cost of lessons for beginning students of “rare” instruments of the orchestra, including bassoon, double bass, French horn, and harp.
I've been meaning to send an email. I spent most of last season working with Montreal Symphony, while commuting from Toronto. The last week of the summer season (mid August), the orchestra did a long string of short concerts, including the majority of Bizet's Carmen opera, and the suite from Swan Lake. Although I've done these classics many times, for some reason playing them a few days apart really brought back a lot of fond memories of OYO. I don't know where I'd be without that organization, and I'm glad to see it's still going strong.
Hope you had a great summer, all the best.
Donations - OYOA now can accept donations on-line.
